New Audi range of cars

 The Audi range of cars

Audi continues to go from strength to strength with amibitious plans to grow their worldwide sales significantly. With an ever growing range of cars and specifications together with their ability to produce fine quality cars with good performance and stylish looks, the combined sales of VW and Audi in the UK are starting to challenge those of the big mainstream players like Ford and Vauxhall.

Recent launches of the new supercar R8 and of the new A4 range will continue to help Audi towards achieving their goals.

Audi A3

Closely related to the VW Golf under its sleek bodywork, the Audi A3 is nevertheless worthy of serious consideration in its own right thanks to refined road manners, strong design and very good residuals. Despite relatively compact exterior dimensions the A3 delivers a reasonable amount of space inside its well-finished cabin - certainly for front-seat occupants

Audi A4

Image counts for a lot in this area of the market, and if you like Audis, you'll love the new A4. Its long, low profile has all the style and understated elegance you'd expect, but it's the little details that really make it: the line of daytime running lights under the headlights, for instance, are just fabulous.

Audi A5

There's a certain understated class to the Audi A5, but we can't help thinking that the company that made the TT could have been a bit more daring with this one. True, it's not ugly as such, but it's perhaps a little too conservative. There are even some angles from which it doesn't really look like an Audi.

Audi A6

The Audi A6 has what it takes to get noticed without shouting. Flash without becoming brash. Agile chassis composure and loads of grip, although light-feeling steering mars overall dynamic experience. Low-spec versions are front-wheel drive only.

Audi A8

Bland or discrete - it's a tough call. Less visually exciting than the BMW 7 Series or Mercedes S Class. Composed and pretty much unflappable over any given road, the Audi A8's lightweight aluminium construction helps with its supple road manners.

Audi Q7

Not Audi's finest hour, but when you're trying to make a five meter, 2.5 tonne off-roader look graceful, the odds really are stacked against you. Looks best from the front. Audi's experience with air-suspension means the Audi Q7 drives surprisingly well for such a big brute. Good resistance to body roll and sharp steering.

Audi R8

Supercars are about visual drama, and if the reactions of passers-by to the Audi R8 are any guide this Audi has it in spades. It's so low it seems almost to be snorting the road through its nose, and spitting debris from its tail. It achieves the difficult trick of managing to look unmistakeably an Audi, but also like a supercar, a species the company has never sold before.

Audi TT

Not quite as stunning as the original car, but clearly descended from the same aesthetic DNA. Brilliant traction and superb steering mean this Audi TT can be fairly compared to the best of the competition. Great to drive.
